Tin House Gallery

The Tin House on Cuyler is a welcoming Art Gallery & Restaurant in the peaceful shade of an ancient gnarled tree. This charming Art Gallery and Coffee Shop is situated in a quaint old Tin House at 35 Cuyler Street, Central, one of two in Port Elizabeth.

The small restaurant within the art gallery has a courtyard area and a lovely shaded veranda in front. The decadent delights found here, of the quality you have come to expect, is evident in the food that is served at The Tin House. This compliments the fine arts being exhibited with ever changing monthly exhibitions.

Visit The Tin House on Cuyler for fine art, ceramics and culinary food! Enjoy a coffee while you peruse the art, which changes with monthly exhibitions and maintains the element of surprise for when you pop in again. This allows artists like Rick Becker, Tertius van Huyssteen, Barbara Langley, Bob Mac Kenzie and Tess Lovemore to name a few, to showcase their work.

Historically, The Tin House on Cuyler was named “Nocton Cottage” after Grandmother Penelope Nocton. The semi detached cottage next door, which was later demolished, was “Dieppe Cottage” named after mother Rebecca Dieppe. They were constructed in 1893 by Kemsleys & Morley from wood and iron. The Tin House was later restored in 1980 by Prof Theron and his wife Tossie, who ran the gallery for many years.
